Loving the detailing on the surface of the Doomsday Machine, and the scale of the asteroid debris when compared with it really sells the immense sense of scale. Nice work.
Very nice work. You seem to be heavily influenced by the CBS Remastering. This is all beautifully done!
Thanks. Yea, I'm basing the shots on the remastering, since they're more diverse than the original, but I'm trying to make the shots look a little more antiquated.

Thank you. Doomsday Machine credit goes to Raul, I simply altered the material settings, etc.

Should I make the bussards on the shuttle match the Enterprise, or leave them as the original? Was the original intent to have them lit like the Enterprise?
Also, should I make the shuttle's impulse engines red or blue?

Excellent work, loving what you're doing with this, that hangar looks great. Afraid I'm not well versed enough in Trek lore to give you any meaningful advice regarding the shuttle effects. My gut would say to make the bussards the same as the Enterprise and go with a red impulse glow for consistencies sake, but what do I know?

Ah, those are great questions, but I would turn it around and ask what you want to see on someone's shuttle craft? What would look right to you?
Me? I think the shuttle bussards should be lit, perhaps fluctuate a bit in brightness, but not match the Enterprise. I would see it as a size issue. No doubt the equipment is slightly different and not merely a reduction in size / proportion.
Red or blue engines. I never thought of blue. Why not try a render of which ever is your favorite and see how it looks?

Thanks. Well, here is a video comparing the red and blue impulse engines and the bussards.
This is terrific work! And so quickly! I can't render that fast.

Thanks. I tend to render stuff constantly, once one thing gets done rendering, I'm immediately compositing and when that's done, I begin working on setting up and rendering another shot, so I can export out of After Effects at one time and then post a WIP video.
I've seen blue in some fan renders and stuff. Of course, in the original series they were white.

Hmmm, on seeing that comparison shot I kinda like the blue a little more, perhaps because that is closer to the original look? Or maybe because the blue contrasts a little better with red markings on the ship? Not sure, but that looks a little better to my eye than the red. I couldn't really see any difference in the bussard effects, or is this shot just for comparing the impulse glows? Nice work either way.

Yea, the bussards are the same in both shots.
I like the blue too myself.

Well, season 2 was botched, since it wasn't done by CBS Digital, so it didn't have the quality of season 1, 3, 5-7. Modern VideoFilm did season 4 after the season 2 issue, but they still weren't up to CBS Digital.

The latter I reckon. They only stuck to such boring and repetitive shots due to budget restraints which you of course don't have to worry about. So some different angles which still service the plot and loosely adhere to the intent and purpose of the original shots would be nice.
I think that more interesting shots could certainly be done, so long as you don't go too wild with them. That Constellation class could also do with some weathering, if you can. It doesn't look very beat up and used.

Chugging along... I'm thinking of re-rendering that long pass shot at 13 seconds to smooth out the motion, to get rid of the jolt at the beginning.

Making more progress. The shots seem redundant, should I stick to the show or mix things up a bit and render some new angles?
