3DBSG Blackbird - "Laura"

edited August 2010 in Work in Progress #1
Been building the blackbird from BSG recently. Got the main hull fleshed out, getting ready to move to the engine support things in the back. The goal here is to have a pretty detailed blackbird once I'm done with it.

Looking quite promising so far. :)

Is this going to be a model or a basis for a model in Diaspora, or a separate WIP?

Separate project, the count's already way too high for in-game use. I was commissioned to build it by Admiralty Model Works (http://www.admiraltymodelworks.com), the final mesh will be used as a rapid prototyping template. It should be fully usable for pre-rendered videos, however.

Been working on the Laura's cockpit and engine support things in the back... Some edges will need smoothing out there but I'll do that once I have the engines in place.

Getting there, been adding detail to the engines. Need to add some greebles here and there, some detail to the underside, punch in some RCS thruster holes, and add the landing gear. Also the materials are quick placeholders as I'm not done with the model yet. Anyway, on to the pics:

huh, the way all those hydraulics seem to be connecting to the burner can module, I wonder if they were vectoring the entire module?

In the show, I never noticed how interesting the ship is. Your mesh makes me see her by other perspective.
Good work Newman! ItA’s well executed.

Hey, thanks, that's brilliant! Haven't been able to find a good pic of the sigs. Not this good anyway, this will really come in handy! If you have a larger one, that would be even better, as I could use it to trace the sigs in illustrator. Can you post it here? If it's too big I can PM you an email address.
    Again, thanks.

Finally finished the rest of the details, got her standing on her own three legs too :). I intend to give her a full set of textures later, until then, here are some renders of the mesh.
