    UPDATE...
Although not really because this ship was built before the U.E.G was formed. But it is because of this ship the U.E.G. was formed. This ship was built by the NASSA (North American States Space Administration) to be the first ship to leave our solar system. And it did so only by accident while engaging itA’s engines an explosion ripped a hole in space pulling the ship into friendly MaA’Aangan territory.
After floating nearly dead in space for 18 months a MA’Aangan freighter found the ship and towed it back to the nearest inhabited world. Over several months the crew of the Columbus, still kept alive by their failing cryotubes are revived and their ship repared with the addition of Earths first FTL drive. This drive will become known as a jump engine.
The first use of this Jump engine will return the Columbus and her crew to Earth escorted by two Ships of the Royal MA’Aangan Navy. Shortly after these incidents the United Earth Government is formed and the MA’Aangan become itA’s greatest ally.
IA’m texturing this ship to be clean because I want it to be a museum piece.

    UPDATE...
This is the main walkway that connects the engineering section to the main part of the ship. As originally designed this was gonna be the part that contained the seldom working first shot at artificial gravity. I decided to just add some observation rooms and put the A.G. handwavium somewhere in engineering. It's not exactly done yet there are still a few more details to add and textures to be done
    918.jpg
This is a view of the windows on the other side. In the original design it didn't have any windows and was made of 22 parts. Now it's made of 5 parts.
    919.jpg
This is how the Engineering section and main walkway look connected.

Actually all the window shots are from Sunshine.

Yeah but I'm have to do a dirty version. It just doesn't look right me. :D

    UPDATE...
This is the final textured version of the the aft walkway.
    921.jpg
Here is a close up of the finished aft walkway connected to the main engines.

Here is the finished walkway with the Engine section. And what will become the main section of the ship. I decided to add lights to the NASSA sign.

    And the other side.

That poor guy is always stuck outside of your ships. I hope he's paid well!

    UPDATE...
I've gone back to work on the starfighter that I started with.
I finished the engine and added a bunch of the stuff to the spine of the ship.
    964.jpg
    965.jpg
I also started on the side of ship including the magnetic docking clamps and weapons pocket.

Is that the whole ship ? It's hard to get a sense of scale on it :D Looks good anyway.
  • AresiusAresius359 Posts: 4,171Member
I agree on the scaling problem...
Would be good to have some dummy stand by it (or if that's too small a car or whatever...)

    wow....I remember that ship

Well you casn always go back to post nine to see it with a stand in. I just don't feel I need it any more.

    UPDATE...
I’ve done alot of work on the M’Aangan fighter and I’ve decided that it is piloted by a brain grown within the ship. I was also thinking that sometimes these ships can be mounted on the outside of larger capital ships incase of attack.

Added a bunch of details to the forward spine of the ship. Inluding the opening opening for the lower chin mounted cannons. Umbilical connections for fuel and nutrients for the pilot brain and other things. And other details I don't have a clue about.
    967.jpg
This is just to show the umbilical connections.
    968.jpg
This gives a better view of the detail added to the side of the ship. This time I built it instead of using a bump map.
    969.jpg
This is the newly redesigned Royal Emblem for the M'Aagan Empire. I feel this one just looks stronger then the old one. It's basicly the same but this is less anorexic then the first version.

    UPDATE...
Started to work on the removable sensor pallet. I'll also do a laser weapon and perhaps missiles as well. I decided not to do the large side cannons I had on the original version of this ship.
    973.jpg
Finished with the final details on the upper portion of the spine. There might be a few more small things to do.
    974.jpg
I've added the chin cannons. I decided to go with something that wasn't round

I love how this looks and those guns on the bottom.
  • XFozzbouteXFozzboute654 Posts: 1,627Member
    Thanks.
Had to do something different with those guns.

    UPDATE...
The warmer weather is making getting any work done harder.:D
The side sensor pallet is done. This is in the extended mode. I also started to work on the very subtle texture.
    983.jpg
    Sensor retracted.
    984.jpg
This is the blocked in version of the side mounted cannons.
    985.jpg
Here is the sensor attached to the ship. Looks pretty cool to me.
    986.jpg
This is how the new cannon looks attached to the ship.

    UPDATE...
It’s been awhile since I’ve worked on this ship and it’s close to finished so I did some textures for the side of the ship. I’m happy with them they are subtle but not unnoticable. I decided I wanted the four places that the magnetic dock attaches to be worn out and look like the paint has scrated off. I think that worked well also.

    UPDATE...
IA’m getting along on the textures. Almost finished with the center of the ship. Then I can do the antenna and finish building the side guns.

    1072.jpg
Trying to decide if I want blue glowies...
    1073.jpg
Or more white like this. I kind of like this more because I think blue glowies have been done to death.

    Why not green glowies?

Looking great I agree the green glows would work better.

    UPDATE...
I know it’s not much but I think I’m getting the hang of putting rooms in ships.
