I had that one as a kid too, but then again between me and my sister I think we had nearly all of them!

    Happy memories :D

check this link out for a real nostalgia trip... Coby's Ray-Traced Lego Mania: Classic*Space

Edit: Hotlinking images is evil. That makes me evil. Yay!

I had the mobile tracking station!

I think I got most of the space line in the end.

I want whatever camera it is that you are using to take those pictures... LOL

No, seriously, that is the most realistic plastic I have ever seen.

I never did get my hands on any of the old school legos. I started with the little red indy cart off the back of a box of Cheerios. That and the little yellow jeep.

So real you could just about touch it.
  • stonkystonky350 Posts: 489Member
Thanks - it would look even better if it wasn't for the crappy .jpg compression. :)

The artifacts from the jpeg compression actually make it look that bit more real, like pics from digital cameras sometimes come out.

I might have to offer my first little niggle in 5 pages of excellence.

But the three way thrusters, I dont think it should have a bevel between the square brick and the rounds bits.

It looks pretty much straight on in the pics I've seen, I've probably got a few too, I have masses of old and new lego scattered around the place.

    Man That look great.

I was in the Lego Shop in Blue Water on Saturday. Getting a "Surprise" for the kids.
I have am very impressed with the Star Wars lego collection, not as cool as the orignal space collection, but good in its own way. I would love to build the Mell, but at Aï¿¡375 it not goinig to happen.

Hmmm...I'm sure that you're right, but I like the bevel (artist license? ) so I propose a compromise - I'll make the bevel half as wide. :)

@Pearse - thanks for the rationalization, I'll take it. :)

@Freak - thank you! Yeah, I like the Star Wars stuff too! I've been drooling over the large scale Millennium Falcon, but I don't think that I can justify the $$$.

@biotech - thank you, much appreciated, it has certainly been a lot of fun!

Yeah, detail is in the imperfection :) . CG appears to have only got to the point where they take this into account only recently. You know, to show off you could do a brick that's been chewed by your little brother, everyone knows that one.

I can chew my lego pieces all by myself, thank you.

I'm almost finished this kit, pics coming.

Wonderful stuff, brings back so many memories.....

I still have the Galaxy Explorer packed away in storage...somewhere...though I'm not sure where.
