Me and bsg recon decided to make a 2d thread on battlestar galactica ship designs on the 2D forum.
now this is open for all artists to post away designs and give comments and advice to others, i hope that this thread will give more experienced 3D artitst design ideas and perhaps one of our desings will be made to 3d if you are unable to do it yourself for whatever reason.
also it would be nice to have a specs and a little story about the ships you post.
i will be posting a few of my own ships along with other forum members ships which have inspired me in my designs.
so here are mine.
Warstar Goliath
Battlestar Triton
Supportstar Candiria
all are unfinnsihed and other views of them are in progress. if you want specs and a biography of these ships i will be more than happy to put them down for you.
anyways enjoy.

Rough Concept:
much more refined idea for da head (not the toilet head the 'HEAD' head  )
WELL THANK you mate
Just willing to fly the flag for the old school ship that suffered preatty badly from a greeble infection
Maybe once i've finished the Illustrious animation i'll re-work the design and build it in 3D
Any chance of someday seeing this along side the Illustrious?
she was based on a Battlestar's Chasis but insted of flightpods she had gun platforms and enough room inside for alot of ammunition.
SiegeStar Ares
Thanks Safe. :thumb: Like i said i was going for something a bit different than ribbing and a whale. Something more boxy and cargo like.
Oh, and heres an early picture of the Illustrious comapred to the bucket, so the Rough picture would properly be about the same size.
BTW: how are you Verse ships going?
er.....sorry recon, but if i did build her i 3D i'd rather it stayed private and didn't become an RPG or anything like that. Again sorry
and hey mirage, i remeber the Titan. Cute little ship ( Cute? )

Just askin
they do have armour, most of the plating you see is just protecting soft spots on the ship,
the armour is actually quite thick, seems galactica had a nuke launched at it and had 4 basestar's fire all they got at her and she still works.
Europa
Nathalia
Those ones rock, except the thusters for the Europa are massively over sized and placed so the ship can't make normal maneuvers. Moore said Galactica's armor is supposed to be incomplete because it was being decommissioned but that the model makers messed up and made certain details as if armor would never be placed in those certain spots, such as around the PD guns. Except that armor would work around those location with openings in the armor just for the guns. I think armor doesn't work under the big guns on the Galactica, though.

Design of the uncompleted Galactica 2003 by Larsen Arts
Previously posted designs include the Stevenson TOS Gunstar and Choo1701 unnamed Battlestar and Eric chu's unused Galactica 2003 design. Designs are limited by your imagination only. All of these designs are still Realistic (an important Factor}.
Actually, the Galactica is quite well armored. As noted before, it has stood up to nuclear warheads and a continuous barrage by four basestars. The ribs are not some sort of structural mounting point for armor plates, but rather are designed to limit blast damage when the ship takes a hit. It's actually much more effective than regular, flat armor plates.
There is ADDITIONAL armor plates over certain areas of the ship to provide a level of extra protection.
I still like him though.
he's quite a character
fongsaunder - nice civvie ships you got there :thumb:
Oh, and backstept: when Battlestar mating goes WRONG!!! :shiner: Come on people, you just can't mix the old and new like THAT!

*has a look at Wolf's Shipyard*
