You don't accidentally have a duplicate object occupying the same space, do you? That could be it.

Looks like you have some really long polygons.
Adding some vertical edges/cuts might help.

Oh ya I always keep a copy of the un-edited version of my work...because you never know..lol

As long as it's not visible to the camera when you render, you're good to go. It's great to see that you found your answer.
