Trying out a control room above the shuttle bay. I'm happy with the Idee, however the execution does not work for me.
I've since changed it to a more - for the lag of a better word - "edgy" design, that works a little better. But I'm still not entirely happy with it. Here's a quick little render of it:
And here's just another render with a different lighting setup. At least I can't say there's no progress
The new control room inside and out. Took me forever to get it where I want it (blender crashing without having saved, didn't help either ) ... in the End I think, the simpelest shape worked best. Still needs some furniture and equipmet though ...

Program crashes with unsaved work are the bane of every modeler's existence. Did you try the "Recover Last Session" option? It doesn't always work with crashes, but it's saved my bacon more than once.

It was about an hours work. But I started over so often within that hour, that it wasn‘t too much lost work. And modeling something a second time ist often faster and cleaner (at least for me) ... so I went that way 😁
I added some details to the shuttlebay. It's a little dark, but that's easyly fixed with another Light on the ceiling. Or maybe it just was the nightshift
That's looking great so far. I see you went with the later crystal chamber thing and split console with the upper area.
Yeah. Since I’m not doing this with any plan whatsoever, most of the layout comes from necessity. I build the Two corridors on the very Top of the Engeneering Hull first. And the only volume big enough to put the engine room was between them. Since the engine room encompasses two levels I needed a way to get in the Room and get to the lower level. Hence the split consoles and - still to add - ladder 😁
I love your stuff. Definitely made me itch to start my interiors. Your Connie also looks amazing
Thanks. I want to do a deck-by-deck sovereign class somewhere down the line. But I‘m only using blender for three month now, so every model is pretty much a testbed for some new modeling technique or a way of doing certain aspects of a ship.

Sovereign is endgame for me as well. Well, TMP Connie is my favorite but that one is done Need to do the other Enterprises first though, otherwise I'll never get to them.

Since properly raytracing interiors takes forever on my notebook, I just removed the ceiling for the second picture and let the sund do the work :-D

sure ...
(I picked that one b/c it's Mugato, so... you know, keeping it on brand. It's also true)
Thanks
All of those models look fantastic.
It is 😁 ... I have some more shots of the finished stuff on my DeviantArt and some small animations on my Instagram, if anyone‘s interested.
