Thanks. I never knew the Skin wrap option. Something to try for sure.
Update: didn't work well in 2020. The Skin Wrap just didn't want to behave.
I was able to do it. You have to check weight thing, and uncheck Blend in the mesh, and in 2020, it works better with Rapidtools. From another tutorial basically. https://youtube.com/watch?v=Vqay1_giSgk
Can I just say that your lighting looks spot on for Star Wars. It doesn't quite look "realistic" as if we're actually looking at spaceships in space. It looks like a physically lit miniature. And I mean that as a huge compliment because, in the very best way it looks like original Star Wars. Rogue One did this pretty well too. But it really harkins me back to ESB and ROTJ as they are flying through the fleets. Fantastic work!
I didn't have much time to play this weekend, but I did manage to get the MC42 model re-meshed and cleaned - and play with some new lens flare presets!
Well, it's really a glare tool, not exactly flares. I asked because the only thing I couldn't get to work were the bokeh style blotches. The flare itself can be done in vray, it just requires a custom image to get it to make the needed effect.
Also, I think I liked the shader/lighting in previous images better. It looks very flat in the new ones. Great modelling work though I love all those details.
Love how it actually looks like it was designed for extensive upgrades and mods right from the start (like completely different engine pods), rather than most SW ships that were just modified along the way.
These are looking amazing, both the ships and the post processing, but I'm wondering if the lens dirt is making it look a bit more modern rather than matching the original trilogy feel as closely as some of the older tests. These ships feel so much better than the Sequel movies VFX though...
